The Most Complete Full Day Experience on California’s Central Coast
|Book the Original Hearst Castle & Wine Tour and enjoy California’s Central Coast to the fullest, while discovering its hidden-gems with a passionate local guide.
This family friendly small-group tour will pick you up in either Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo or Pismo Beach. You’ll be making your way over the coastal mountains to the infamous California Pacific Coast Highway (Route 1) for a short drive up to the ornate and luxurious Hearst Castle.
Start your visit with the Grand Rooms tour of the main house, recommended for first-time visitors, with time to leisurely stroll the castle property after the tour & enjoy the awe-inspiring views.
Afterwards, you’ll head to the coastal town of Cambria, where you can grab a delicious lunch and browse the many art galleries, boutique shops and more. After lunch, we’ll drive back to Paso Robles wine country where you’ll visit two boutique, family-owned wineries (tasting fees included).
We’ll finish the day in Tin City, Paso Robles’ hippest wine destination, where you will get to choose between exciting boutique wineries, breweries, a cider house, distilleries, sheeps’ milk ice cream and more. (There’s so much to choose from, we didn’t want to do it for you! So time here is at your own expense.)
Please make tour reservations as early as possible, as this popular tour books early and is subject to ticket availability at the Castle.
I get nervous booking tours online – that said BOOK THIS TOUR! It was a great experience beginning to end. Had some questions before booking – Kristine responded within the hour. Booked tour and Toast kept me posted on pick up and timelines. Lars our driver knew everything about Cali and Hearst. The castle is something you need to see – not your average museum tour. And then be sure to hit lunch across the highway – ocean side. Delicious! Lars heard my husband liked brandy, so change of plans and we were off to Paso Port we went for a fantastic tasting – wine makers wife was behind the counter sharing all sorts of stories. Then he took us an amazing vineyard for ATV ride about the grounds. Last a quick stop and Tin Ally which is pretty cool. Just blew our minds with his knowledge, friendly conversations, and attention to detail. Seriously, have you booked your tour? Cause you don’t want to miss out – and they do sell out. DO IT!
We booked the Hearst Castle and wine tour. Lars was our guide and he is super knowledgeable about the region and the history of Paso Robles and California. The wine houses that we went to were really beautifull and had amazing wines. Lars is also really knowledgeable about wine. After that we also went to Tin City which is a super fun location. Toast tour provided us with a great map of the area. Lots of wine places and also a couple of breweries. We went to the cider house and a taster plate which was also super delicious. Thanks Lars for the amazing experience and we will definitely come back to Toast Tours when we will be back in California.
We had an amazing time!! Our tour guide, Lars, was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and kind. We
We had a fun day that was personalized for our interests. Lars was very accommodating and

Such a great deal for an excellent tour. Tour is well organized and the driver is wonderful. It is nice to be able to see the various sites with a nice air conditioned/heated bus and without the hassle of driving/parking/designated driver. Hearst castle is beautiful and the tour was great (and is also included in the Toast Tour ticket price). Not only is there a beautiful view of the landscape but the art is also amazing to see. The stop for lunch in Cambria is the perfect break between Hearst Castle and wine tastings. Toured/tasted at three different wineries in Paso Robles which were all very good and fun to taste at. Easily able to purchase wine and Lars provided a box for us to ship it. The day was provided with snacks (including a cheese board) and water throughout. If you are touring the coast of California, I recommended stopping in Paso Robles and HIGHLY recommend Toast Tours.
Lars guided a lovely tour to Hearst Castle, providing a great history lesson! The wineries we visited
Thank you to Toast Tours for a fun hassle free way to site see. It was great to leave the driving to Lars. On the way to San Simeon we got a quick California history lesson. The Hearst Castle lived up to expectations. Worth making time to tour. On the way back we heard about wine. Afternoon winery visits were also great. It was nice to get out on the ATV to see and taste grapes with the wines they are in. I recommend this package and tour company!
This tour was honestly way better than expected. We did so much more than just hop around. The guide we were with made the trip even better. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to have a great time!! Thank you, Lars!

We recently did a Hearst Castle and Wine tour with Lars from Toast Tours. From the moment the tour started, we were having a blast. Lars is extremely knowledgeable about the local geography, geology and oenology. He had wonderful recommendations for lunch after Hearst Castle. For the wine portion of the tour, Lars took us to three of his favorite vineyards. Each vineyard and winery gave us a unique and diverse experience of the local offerings. Each winery highlighted unique wines and practices that were representative of Paso Robles’ distinct wine-growing micro climates. I could tell that Lars had diligently thought out which series of wineries and in what order, would best showcase the special elements of Central Coast wine. I would take this tour again and I recommend you do if you’re a lover of history and superb wines.

We had a fantastic time! I highly recommend Toast Tours in Paso. Lars is so friendly, knowledgeable
My boyfriend and I were visiting from Seattle. We wanted to see the area without the hassle of a car. The full day Hearst Castle and wine tour was absolutely perfect. Lars was an amazing tour guide. He provided helpful information all throughout the day. He listened to our preferences in wine/spirits and modified the planned wineries to accommodate. In addition to the castle and wine tastings, we enjoyed a quick stop to see elephant seals, lunch at the charming The Cafe in Cambria, and a stop at Barrelhouse Brewing at Tin City. I still can’t believe Lars was able to pack in so many memorable events into one day. I’d highly recommend this tour!!!
My wife and I had never been wine tasting before and we couldn’t have picked a better guide. Lars was absolutely fantastic at listening to our tastes and what we wanted to sample. His plan was well organized and left us with ease of mind knowing that he had our best interests at heart.
Lars was the perfect guide. He is knowledgeable about not only the wine itself, but the vineyard, the climate, and the history behind each one. He made us feel comfortable and gave us tips that would help us enjoy our time even more so.
This tour was better than expected, because Lars had given us a brief history of William Randolph Hearst, how he came into wealth, and how he acquired Hearst Castle. Knowing the background information made the tour that much more enjoyable. He handled the tickets and the schedule for us in Hearst Castle which was another convenience that kept my wife and I 100% satisfied.
We also toured the coastal town of Cambria where Lars provided us a detailed overview of the cuisine and what to expect. This gave us a well informed choice of lunch which was fantastic.
It’s also worth pointing out that because parking in many of these areas can be difficult, having the tour bus made it easy for us to go where we wanted without worry. His pickup instructions were accurate and without pressure.
I would recommend this tour to anyone, the wine connoisseurs, the intermediate, or the first timers.
We will be back.
He was very punctual and shared lots of info about the area with us, along with lots of info about the wine. First we went to Hearst Castle and we had a great time there. After that we had a lovely lunch in Cambria, and then we headed to the vineyards. Both of the vineyards we visited were very pleasant and the wine was great. We especially enjoyed Onx Vineyard where we were taken on a tour around the vineyard as we drank our wine. We would definitely recommend this tour company to anybody. They are A+++ in our book! You won’t be disappointed.

We only had one full day in Paso Robles so we decided to book a tour to see as much of the area as we could. We couldn’t have chosen a better company or tour. Lars and Christina were amazing. We were the only 2 people booked on the day but Lars happily took us out on our personal one to one tour and even came to pick us up from our hotel. Lars was so knowledgeable of the area and his insights made the journey throughout thoroughly interesting. First stop (after a quick stop to photograph the vistas) was Hearst Castle, stunning on its hilltop retreat – a real treat. Then on to the lovely “village” of Cambria for a spot of lunch stopping off to photograph the Zebras en route. In the afternoon we wound back towards Pas Robles visiting a couple of lovely Wineries – ONX and Red Soles. At both the hosts were so friendly and informative. We even got the opportunity to tour round the vineyard in a golf buggy at ONX. Ending up late afternoon at Tin City sampling American Cider – nothing like our British version – and listening to the local musicians.

What a wonderful trip to Hearst Castle and the wineries in the Paso Robles region. Our driver and guide Lars, of Toast Tours, was so friendly and very knowledgeable. Hearst Castle was amazing, especially the ostentatious swimming pools. The guide at Hearst Castle knew her stuff and we were able to wander around on our own outside after the official tour had finished. After having a pleasant lunch in nearby Cambria, we progressed to the wineries. We visited two, and got a ride round the vineyards at one. Everyone at the wineries was very friendly and we learned so much about the wines produced in the region. We finished at Tin City in Paso Robles – a collection of buildings and barns, each one offering food and drink. We sampled local ciders and it was the end to a very good day. Hats off to Lars who was an amazing guide – he even managed to pull off the road near Hearst Castle where we were able to witness, albeit it from a distance, zebras (descendants of those from the long defunct Hearst Zoo) grazing with cattle on the grassland next to the highway. Thank you Lars and Toast Tours!

Amazing Experience! We were lucky to have the bus to ourselves and an amazing tour guide that really cared about our experience. Lars tailored our trip on the fly with or feedback, and we can’t say enough good things. Run, don’t walk, to book your tour with Toast Tours. Truly the highlight of our trip!
Lars drove us to Hearst Castle and gave us a great history story on the drive. After our visit to the Castle, he drove us up the road a bit to be able to see the elephant seals on the beach.
I highly recommend Toast Tours for your next outing Paso Robles wineries. We signed up for the Hearst Castle & Wine Tour and enjoyed every minute. Lars was on time and a most gracious and knowledgeable host throughout the day. He made our experience in Paso Robles enjoyable and memorable. Don’t miss out on Toast Tours, you’ll thank me for the recommendation!
We had the best time with Toast Tours on our visit to Hearst Castle and Paso wine tasting. Lars and Kristina are wonderful tour operators. I am a seasoned traveler and would highly, highly recommend their tours.
Lars was AMAZING! We have travel up the cost of CA and been on plenty of tours, this tour was by far the BEST tour we have been on!! Congrats Lars for understanding the importance of personable Service with knowledge of the coast! I will be telling everyone only tour to take is TOAST TOURS! Cheers!!
This tour was a blast! Lars was so knowledgeable about wine, and the history of the art, as well as the history of Hearst castle! He was so friendly, and we felt in really good hands. After our tour of the castle was done, he took us to Cambria, where he pointed us in the direction of the best places to eat. Then we headed back to wine country, where we were able to visit 2 wonderful wineries, one of which took us out on an ATV and an actual tour of the winery! Then when we were back on the lovely air conditioned bus, he had a beautiful assortment of cheeses for us to snack on, that totally hit the spot. Then he took us to Tin city, and pointed us in the direction of great winery tasting rooms, as well as this delicious creamery! This tour not only met my expectations, it hit a home run out of the ballpark! I also LOVE that it is a small, privately owned company with a beautiful family atmosphere. You will NOT be disappointed!!!
This has to be hands down one of the best wine tours I’ve ever been on. The guide that’s what made the tour also the buss it had seats that were so comfy and they weren’t like a typical buss and the food was delicious as well as the wine lol. We had so much fun on the drive I can’t wait to go back. Lars my friend like I said this was a 10 star tour but since I can’t give 10 I give you 5, the max I can give. I can’t wait to come back. Made my vacation!!! Until next time.
