  • Great with a variety of personalities: Must be good with all personality types and skilled at reading the group to create a fun, enjoyable day for guests.

 

  • Wine and Local Knowledge: You don’t need to be an expert, but some knowledge about wine is essential, and must be familiar with the local area roads and things to do.

 

  • Engagement and Adaptability: Able to educate guests about wine and the area while reading each group to provide a personalized and fun experience.

  • Physical Capability: Must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 50lbs.

 

  • Driver Requirements:
    • Must be at least 28 years of age.
    • Must have an active driver’s license for at least three years.
    • Must be able to pass a drug test.
    • Must have and maintain a clean driving record with no more than 1 point. Driving record must be free of DUI and DWI incident(s).

  • Variety of Tours: Take guests to explore our world-class wine region, iconic Hearst Castle, family-friendly farms, local craft distilleries, breweries, and other exciting local spots! No two days are the same, keeping the job exciting and dynamic.

 

  • Wine Knowledge and Education: Gain knowledge about wines, winemaking, and local vineyards. We also offer opportunities for further wine education, such as WSET certification, if you excel in the position.
  • Educational and Enthusiastic: Talk knowledgeably and enthusiastically about local history, winemaking & farming, the basics of distillation, and make great recommendations for guests. You will be more than just a driver!

 

  • Create Lasting Memories: Provide an exceptional experience by ensuring every guest has a fun and memorable day in wine country.

 

  • Read Groups to Create their Perfect Day: Each tour is different, so you’ll adjust your guiding style to meet each guests individual preferences.

  • Prioritize Safety: Safe and professional driving is paramount. Safety lies at the heart of our operations, ensuring every guest enjoys a worry-free experience.

 

  • Keep Things Tidy: Keep our vehicles looking sharp with regular light cleaning, ensuring they’re always ready for the next adventure.
  • Full Training: Don’t worry if you don’t know it all! We’re happy to train the right person. You just need to be interested, willing to study, and excited to share your knowledge with guests.

 

We value our guides and will work with you to help you succeed in this role, increase your wine & local knowledge, and grow personally and professionally.

This position offers flexibility in your work schedule and can expand to include additional responsibilities if desired. As it is a seasonal role, the workload varies throughout the year.

Typical shifts are during the daytime and range from 6 to 9 hours, though the length can sometimes be shorter or longer.

Occasionally, nighttime transportation is required.

Our peak times are weekends and holidays, so availability during these periods is ideal. However, occasional weekday availability is also beneficial.
